“While some supervisors argue that the charter amendment is not needed, the leaders of the nonprofit housing groups building affordable housing in San Francisco—-Mercy Housing, Mission Housing, and TNDC—all support Breed’s plan.”https://beyondchron.org/will-sf-supes-back-luxury-homeowners-over-affordable-housing/ …

“
@HillaryRonen is so opposed to limiting frivolous homeowner appeals that I am told she has refused to even schedule a committee hearing.” (She campaigned on bringing 5,000 affordable units to the Mission within a decade.) If you live there, that’s your supe. Let her know.1 reply 14 retweets 66 likesShow this thread -

Today in the Board of Supervisors being anti-housing. A hearing on an ostensible anti-demolition bill that the SF Planning department says will change minor processes that today get over-the-counter permits to *9-12 month-long* conditional use processes.https://twitter.com/_fruchtose/status/1141768158140743680 …

If you claim you're for more housing, then why make creating new housing even more incredibly complicated and unpredictable in a city with the highest construction costs in the United States?

Do you think
@CoryBooker 's plan to withhold transportation funding to local governments that won't undo restrictive zoning laws would work in a city like SF?1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Nice, but not enough of a stick.

Wow, I thought it was a pretty big stick since the threat of withholding transportation funding is what got every state to raise their minimum drinking age to 21. But maybe you are right, that you need a bigger stick to get city councils to fall in line.
