They’ve wanted to build housing near their HQ for years. And they got somewhat far in the last 4-5 on the North Bayshore plan with the last mayor but then ....

"Making a $1B investment in housing" is definitely a bunch of PR-ese that implies that they're generous and charitable. For certain, pushing for new housing for their new employees is better than the alternative, but I think the media op was more than a bit gross

When $750M of this $1B is, as I understand, retaining land ownership and simply leasing it off, I think this misrepresents their action to a great extent (Though, to be honest, they literally *did* frame it as "investment")
