I am guessing there is another side to this story... E.g. the sups have something similar but better coming down the pipeline, they have something the teachers are more fully supporting.. I vote let's let this play out for a bit.

Teacher housing is much more complex to finance because if you tap federal and state funding sources, the whole project has to go to below 60-80% AMI. Teachers incomes are often higher than this, which means the subsidy for them has to be generated almost wholly locally.
