an exasperated reminder to everyone: taking money from rank & file employees who are voters that work at tech companies is different than taking money from the companies themselves + their execs please don’t conflate the twohttps://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/06/us/politics/democrats-2020-donations-silicon-valley.html …

Has anyone kept a list of example pieces like this, where it's clear that News Media is in the narrative-construction business and not necessarily the fact-finding business?

How do you feel about donations from CEOs and execs of non Big 4 firms? Venture capitalists invested in them?
-
non-Big 4 firms have very different incentives than Big 5 firms. VCs have different incentives than Big 5 firms. Also Cory, Kamala, Buttigieg are the least anti-tech of all the Democratic candidates.

Tech has made itself too easy of a punching bag in the political realm and we need to start fighting back. Embrace the "developer shill" thing and make it good, imo. (Sorry for the weird video but this is an outreach effort to the gaming community.)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BxnCGPYrgE …

It's interesting that both in tech and housing the sentiment is "anti-developer" that works on both levels. NIMBYs hate change, and we need to frame it in that way rather than specifics of each industry I think.

Elevating the exquisite hit-and-run rando Twitter logic of "Beto took donations from oil workers therefore Beto is IN THE POCKET of Big Oil" to the New York fucking Times.
