They have children and grandchildren they want leave a good planet for. Don't really see age as an axis of conflict beyond the race/class implications.

It's not as if anyone perceives geriatric leaders as inherently trigger happy with nuclear weapons even though, "they have little to lose." Sure, but they have family members.

We will have to give them stronger reasons to care, thankfully some do already. We can inspire empathy, we can use culture. Americans worship the young and what the young are doing, perhaps business-generated but the values are there and can be leveraged.
