I thought their stance was politically unwise and I was also on the other side of Prop. C but I also understood why they did it. It's problematic when single advocacy groups can circumvent a comprehensive budgeting processes to get set- asides for themselves.
and did this literally the week you were sworn into office? (Again, I'm not agreeing with her decision, but I can totally see this POV.)

if the argument is that breed wanted to keep political capital, that's true in a sense-- clearly she wanted to appease her corporate backers, who were against the bill. that's not the same as keeping leverage to negotiate some other gross receipts tax for some other purpose

i don't know why we have to impute some subtle and subterranean motive to her when opposing the bill is entirely consistent with the nature of her political coalition. like, why do this exercise?
