let us maintain local control, give us more $ to build subsidized/affordable units since State took away RDAs, and let's talk about transit please.

@davidchiu is working on RDAs. Given that Mtn View literally just wiped out a bunch of pro-housing folks in the last election after just a few years of progress, hard to make that argument.2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

& MV Council is still pro-housing. We approved 550 units last week, a 53 ownership stacked flat project last nite & leasing land from VTA to build affordable housing. How's that not pro-housing? Just not willing to do housing at all costs. Need the infrasturcture 2 support.

I'm glad the current MV City Council is proud to call itself pro-housing. But in four years we'll have a new Council, who could go back to increasing the jobs-housing imbalance and forcing people to live far away. What protects us from that? Only working at regional/state level.

Say we had a drunk driving crisis. Even if no Mountain View resident had driven drunk this decade, we'd still want to pass state laws to protect ourselves and everyone. We have a housing crisis. We want state laws to protect ourselves and everyone.

So how does carving out 43 of 58 counties, as the new SB50 does help protect all of us?

I know about fourplexes but other provisions no longer apply to counties under 600k people = 43/50 counties last version I saw.

The 15 counties above 600k population combine to have 32.7 million people, or 83% of California's population. The other 43 have 6.8 million, and that's before excluding large cities in those counties.

Thanks for this. I meant to calculate that stat in the morning but it was 1 a.m. at the time. Margaret, I appreciate that you are engaging on this issue and Scott's team is definitely taking feedback and the bill is part of a *larger* package that will also include tenant

protections among other housing policies. I have to check with David on RDAs. That said, the reality is that the Bay's inner suburbs were the worst actors through most of this economic cycle, allowing 1 housing unit for every 15 jobs. https://mtc.ca.gov/file/55131/download?token=yLMibpGA …
