unless they are angry that they don't have enough of them or that they aren't big enough/dense enough to house all of the people who want to and should be living close to their work and schools then I have no sympathy. Palo Alto could (and I think should) have more housing

I grew up in Palo Alto and every time I visit I see more huge single-family McMansions built in the midtown/south side, where a formerly modest single-storey house was demo'ed. (Eichlers, etc.) Density per square foot of living space is actually going *down* in Palo Alto! (!!!)

The recent visit by EPA and MPK to Palo Alto's council was notable in part for the uptick in people of color.

For lovers of "Palo Alto is about to become Hong Kong/Kowloon", here's another in the installment. Guys - we're at the tipping point. Palo Alto is already at 2,808.46/sq mi - that's practically Hong Kong's 17,552.3/sq mi. TREAD CAREFULLY. OPPOSE EVERYTHING. pic.twitter.com/KBeVzx2d5w

Five stories are about 60 or so feet. Think half the right of way as a general rule for compatible height. Most arterials are around 120 to 150 feet wide. Downtowns are exceptions. And historic neighborhoods can be an issue
