In an ideal world where this was all somewhat obvious given FB/twitter 7 years ago in 2012, we would’ve started planning for it instead of obstructing solutions for many years then trying to make some last minute political theater about it.

Guess I’m just frustrated because I have no confidence he’s going to put what voting in favor of the Central SOMA gentrification bomb/plan did to make the BOS culpable in all this.

In a neighborhood Peskin, Daly & Ammiano among others solidified would be the only place said tower would be legal in the 2000’s. Trinity Towers wouldn’t be built in North Beach

honest question. did ANY moderate or progressive supervisor push back and suggest other parts of the city be rezoned? (side note: Chris Daly won the SFHAC Housing Hero award for doing that)

both moderate and progressive supervisors wanted to find a way to permit development where the city could collect appropriate impact fees + require inclusionary units

I mean, I think this goes back to... money. Sam gripes about how onsite IZ has starved his industry of funding, a formerly homeless man gave public comment at the commission I belong to this morning saying that communities of color need onsite housing and railed against fee-outs

Replying to @uhshanti @markasaurus and
and everyone who defended Central SoMa said it was needed to get funding for subsidized housing, kind of like you're saying now. the small sites program ran out of money and yeah, it feels galling to see all this fighting over peanuts amidst giant IPOs. let's get more money fam

If the concern is $$ for housing you would pinpoint a particular, relevant point of extraction....https://twitter.com/juliadewahl/status/1103730131061792768 …

I would humbly suggest that instead of focusing on one and not the other, we focus on both.
