I went into this story feeling very, very skeptical of the idea that this year's tech IPOs would blow up San Francisco's housing market. But now ...

I'm honestly annoyed that these stories are coming out now because we had *years* to plan for this and instead of doing anything,
@sfbos made it more complicated to create new housing just as construction costs rose to the most expensive in the country instead of going faster.7 replies 14 retweets 183 likes -

Um, the suburbs were sued and
@NancySkinnerCA strengthened the HAA in 2017. SF has *not* borne the housing burden for the region. SF literally just approved a plan in SOMA for 32,000 jobs and only 8,800 homes.https://sf.curbed.com/2018/12/6/18129074/central-soma-plan-housing-development-growth …2 replies 1 retweet 39 likes -

The discussed Oakland Downtown Plan, in contrast, proposes 55,000 jobs and *30,000 housing units*. It's almost like... they planned for jobs-housing balance, unlike SF!

Furthermore, your boss is opposing a state plan that
@UCBDisplacement says would quadruple feasibility for market-rate units and quintuple affordable below-market-rate capacity and specifically focuses on expanding home production in jobs-rich areas such as the peninsula.1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

To be clear, though clarity has never been this platform's strong suit, the Board opposed SB50 *unless amended* to make further consideration for vulnerable communities and to protect existing housing from financial incentives to demolish.

Which is awfully agreeable, unless you think SB50 adequately addresses predictable impacts on "sensitive" or vulnerable communities, or if you disagree with the SF Planning staff analysis which finds that SB50 will exacerbate the unenforceability of SF's demolition controls.

Do you mean the part where 63% of the occupied housing units in SF would be exempt bc it doesn't apply to parcels with tenants in them? Again, what exactly are you doing to increase housing in a commensurate way vs. this bill? What is your alternative? Are you doing your job?
