CA's #SB50 expands city housing options for working and middle-class families currently priced out. So why do some tenant advocates oppose it? http://bit.ly/2Uq2Uyi  @kimmaicutler @NancySkinnerCA @SFyimby

Reality: #SB50 has the potential to quintuple affordable units in California under its inclusionary requirements.https://twitter.com/ucbdisplacement/status/1117920454071578625?s=21 …

#SB50 could quadruple market-feasible capacity, and quintuple market-feasible inclusionary capacity, esp. in high resource neighborhoods - with caveats about the inclusionary provision needing clarification to ensure units get built nearby.

@kimmaicutler to clarify, our analysis in the brief focused on areas subject to #SB50 in the Bay Area. In those areas, compared to current capacity, SB50 could quadruple overall market-feasible capacity, & quintuple capacity for affordable units under inclusionary requirements.

Section 8 Homebuyers Program, BMR Homeownership Programs, public land leases & cooperatives need to be a part of #SB50 not affordable rental poverty traps that hamper upward mobility. AMI must be reformed, #JustinHerman legacy must be addressed by .@SPUR_Urbanist & @Scott_Wiener

There are 260-some odd bills in the California state legislature around housing. They address everything from rental registries, just cause, ADUs, etc. any single bill would be part of a larger package.

If you have specific bill/program ideas around AMI reform, BMR programs, etc., I’d probably talk to @buffywicks @robbonta @NancySkinnerCA @DavidChiu, etc toward the fall to draft legislation for the 2020 session.

It must be in #SB50 or it’s going down like #SB827. No #GreenCrow or #JustinHerman planning practices. We discussed this @ #NPC19 @APA_Planning here in #SanFrancisco last weekend. This bill fails to address past and present equity challenges.

SB 827 was endorsed by a number of statewide equity groups. SB 50 includes job-rich centers that have built very little inclusionary housing ever. If passed it will directly reduce racial segregation.
