This sounded interesting until the third paragraph where it says “the ordinance outlines no formal punishment if a district does not build a qualified facility in 30 months.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯https://twitter.com/TrishaThadani/status/1116501823857147904 …

the freakout that ensues when someone even *ceremonially* supports a nav center in their district is worth it tbh

How low our standards have fallen. I want the forcing mechanism here to be a denial of trash pickup services. No Nav Center? No trash delivery for YOU!

We talked about what might happen if it doesn't get done, and brought this up with the City Attorney. They said when we pass a law the city is expected to follow it. The City can't "punish" itself. When we pass a law, the expectation is that it happens.

Like §8A.111 of the city charter, which says, "No fewer than ten members of the [SFMTA CAC] must be regular riders of the Municipal Rail-way." Guess how many currently are?

BTW, Matt, on July 1, 2020, the seat nominated by D6 will turn over and you'll have the power to replace the non-rider currently holding it with someone who would bring the city one step closer to complying with its own charter.

Good to know. I will make sure we appoint a regular Muni rider.
