Hard to untangle how much of this vote was about Sergio Iantorno and how much of this was about shadows.... And yet, it’s also like why is it a good use of the time, resources of the city’s highest legislative body to vote on shadows of an individual property owner?

Maybe a stupid question: but what I'm having a hard time with is since everyone from the homeless to tech ceo's are complaining about the lack of supply, why aren't the policies changing through civic action? (changing the mayor, a referendum, etc)

That was the park where our first kid learned to run and swing and bounce a ball. Shadows wouldn’t have diminished any of those experiences.
