The Bay Area & the Greater LA area have different histories, different needs. I am happy to explain why there is such unanimous & vociferous opposition. I'll even take the time to give a historical tour & explain these nuances. I'm even happy to offer legislative alternatives.

There is absolutely not “unanimous, vociferous opposition” If you think there is, you might be living in a bubble

I think when every member of the Los Angeles City Council, every member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors opposes the bill, and I cannot find a single local elected official across 88 cities in LA County offering support, there is vociferous, unanimous opposition.

Channeling my inner
@AOC here. In a 550 square mile city of over 4 million people from every different background imaginable, we have 15 representatives on the Council often representing different points of view. I don’t think they’re all NIMBYs, racists, ignorant, or morons.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like
If the rest of California organized to outvote our NIMBYs into authorizing a Bay Area regional govt, we would probably leave you alone bc we wouldn’t need to go through the state.
