Or maybe they realize that this will not actually solve the housing crisis but will create great public harm. Have you considered that there is reasonable opposition from local elected officials who know their cities well and have valid reasons? LA in particular would be harmed.

Almost all San Francisco affordable housing advocates oppose SB50. They are on the ground every day, as are the SF Supervisors, and they know that Wiener's trickle down, market-driven approach to housing is a failure of epic proportion.

Um, actually maybe the East Bay is tired of SF and the Western half of the Bay screwing it over by approving no housing while greenlighting tons of office space. And actually maybe statewide affordable housing organizations like
@NPHANC,@Habitat_org support it along with3 replies 1 retweet 6 likes
with democratically elected representatives of more genuinely working-class cities like Stockton and Oakland.
