BTW, let me all just remind you of what happened the last time an SF mayor temporarily enabled a large encampment to form outside City Hall. (They got booted from office after one term in favor of the police chief.)https://www.nytimes.com/1990/07/06/us/san-francisco-s-mayor-ousts-homeless-camp.html …

Then that mayor, naturally, engaged in a policy of criminalization, which was also ineffective and simply scattered the population into residential neighborhoods and the Westside. And then, he too, was eventually booted from office after one term!https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Matrix-program-dies-in-S-F-court-3155141.php …

it's really amazing that they would insinuate THIS MAYOR doesn't want homeless services near herself. There's just nothing about her life to make you think that. You'd have to be assuming no one on earth wants to be near homeless services; what kind of twisted worldview is that?

Something tells me if city hall were made a shelter first, they’d still NIMBY this shelter regardless (it’s not as if any single shelter can handle the need in either case)
