If there are no beds to go to, bc folks like these condo residents spend $50K on lawyers to oppose shelter beds near them, people experiencing homelessness will get shuffled around by police in tents from street to street, contributing to this "sidewalk problem" you speak of.

Just to clarify, I’d rather have the navigation center built there than no navigation center and I’m pretty strongly YIMBY/PHIMBY, but I am sympathetic to the concerns of the opposition here.

In the summer of last year, 101 campers were given 647e misdemeanor citations for sleeping in buildings/vehicles w/ max penalty of six months in jail. A fifth of those people were booked in county jail, for sleeping outside.

Those stats are definitely trending in the right direction, and I completely recognize that my experience is anecdotal, but I regularly see the familiar mix of feces, syringes, and aggressive on handling in Soma. Again, I have no dog in this fight, but I get both sides
