YES. I was the victim of that early in my career. I'm paranoid about double-checking and eliminating every possible source of public embarrassment.

Omg yes. Or panicking 5 mins before presenting when I realize I need to move all the random screenshots/files on my desktop into a folder called "desktop"

I’m surprised more computers/iPads don’t have a special kind of do not disturb mode for this reason— like a “lending my laptop!”setting that hides your history, locks out notifications, etc.
-
there is a gues login but I agree with you, there needs to be a quick-to-access presentation mode w no notifications

I once sat in on a vendor demo when the vendor had a spreadsheet of passwords visible in the background during the presentation. They didn't get the business.

My last job had me protecting my laptop constantly, and I've learned to keep it very sparse. Doesn't even save browser session. It's a good peace of mind.

Not to mention, finishing a meeting & finding out, 15 mins later, to your horror: the next meeting was watching your screen, trying to identify you, so they could inform you to turn it off ...Did I mention the iPad in the room could have manually turned screenshare off?

I check that I've turned off notifications, half the time I just outright kill wifi so nothing gets through. I take every conference call on mute w/no video (fuck video conference calls). I have things taped over all laptop cameras.
fine line between preparedness and paranoia. -
Just want to thank you for great podcasts with
@SamHarrisOrg and@joerogan. Great deep dives on the IRA and how they work. Between you and Roger McNamee, I understand your fine line more than ever. Cheers.
