Everyone would do well to read some history, but I know from experience that engineers get about one elective in the curriculum. I did Spanish and ethics and that was way more than my advisor wanted. History? Forget about it.

right but that's the point of a liberal arts education: you get exposed to a broad range of disciplines, not put on tracks where you only get one inconsequential elective per semester
