In addition to the inefficient allocation of resources issue we discussed last week, I suspect a large part of the resistance is due to @sfgov 's refusal / inability to keep sidewalks safe and clear.

That is just not factually true. HSOC has resolved every large encampment with more than 20 tents in the last few years. http://sanfranciscopolice.org/sites/default/files/Documents/PoliceCommission/PoliceCommission090518-HSOCPresentation.pdf …

Self interested maybe. Selfish seems like an unfair portrayal. Before they are wealthy condo owners they also include parents, families and people with concerns that haven’t been met. The most successful solutions I’ve read about don’t include shaming and othering.

The embarcadero plutocrats complain the Center wd cost $25k/ bed to operate. Well similar MH supportive Orgs like Concern for Independent Living know tht hospitalization/incarceration costs society $80-120k/ bed. These centers are effective & cost efficient, morally right.

Not only tht, Kaiser Medical in the plutocrats’ own BayArea have partnered w/
#AffordableHousing Fund investors to the tune of $500million+ to build supportive care facilities. Kaiser crunched the#s, it’s cheaper to build support hsng than have these ppl clog up Emergency Rms
