This is why I’m in favor of a points-based system. It lets the country decide what it needs help with and then try and get immigrants who can help with that. As opposed to the totally random and bizarre “origin country” cap we have today.

When discussing this topic with people from “both sides”, one interesting thought experiment I like to pose is: a) how many immigrants do you think the US should take in every year if there was a way to enforce it and b) how would you allocate that number (skilled, family, etc)
