Wondering if the vagueness of Warren’s ‘breakup tech’ idea, and its failure to consider the most basic questions it raises (eg: are you banning all retailers’ private labels?) reflects the nature of the whole ‘break them up!’ argument. There’s no there there.

That’s a poor read. Delete the specifics and she’s articulating a coherent theory around “platform utilities.” You can disagree with the theory or specific proposals that she might derive from it, but to do so you must first understand the argument.

Agreed. The frame of debate on this for the last 20 years has had no room for analysis because of the narrow scope we assigned antitrust policy (consumer price impact). She needs strong rhetoric to even open up the space for serious analysis.
