SROs have their place but why brand them as "co-living"? And SF has changed a lot since 1919. The shipyards and docks are gone, for starters.

Because SROs are basically illegal to build. There are also strict density limits against unrelated people living in a single home. But if you can argue that you and your roommates are doing some “co-living” thing, then you can get housing that you can afford.
