Funny two decades ago transit advocates were making the case for an Altamont Pass connection for HSR. Of course, that would reroute direct service from San Jose, so here we are today. Alon’s would fall into the Tri-Valley San Joaquin Valley Regional Rail Authority Work Program

Oh wait I see now Alon included the TRANSDEF alternative. They may have a less than stellar reputation with public agencies, but the SETEC study should be dusted off the shelf & re-examined.
