Our dinner discussion revolved around my son’s school project to research creation of Holland Tunnel. Question arose, “why haven’t cities sold naming rights to bridges and tunnels like stadiums have?” Seems like free money. Any examples?

SF General gave naming rights to Zuckerberg on a $75M gift, but that only covers like 1/4th of the negative operating margin they had through FY 2017. And then it confuses voters about who really pays for things.

We’re already at a point in political discourse where many voters don’t also think they have to pitch in and pay for necessary public infrastructure like safety net hospitals and train stations and instead think that taxing the 1% will magically solve all problems.
