Do you have any ideas of paired legislation or policy ideas that would compel more housing with the upzoning?

One way is to limit office growth unless there is housing available for the new workers.https://48hills.org/2019/01/yimby-narrative-wrong/ …

Sure, but good luck paying for unfunded pension liabilities (which is usually why lots of Bay Area cities approve disproportionate office space).https://twitter.com/kimmaicutler/status/1081261033002393600?s=21 …

Kim-Mai CutlerVerified account @kimmaicutlerOne reason that Bay Area cities resort to approving large amounts of [tech] office space is in part because single-family homeowners do not pay property tax levels that keep pace with the cost of providing services. So local govts have to look toward alternate strategies. https://twitter.com/marymcnamara/status/1081107306736013313 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 6 likes -

Interesting. What is the link between unfunded liabilities and office space?

Just that liabilities are just generally growing faster than tax revenues and many cities try to plug the gap by approving office space bc office space generates corp/bus tax + property tax w/out costing services like police, schools, fire bc the ppl live elsewhere.

We should really just have regional commercial office space tax revenue shared and pooled to disincentivize this behavior.
