No one wants a NY style right to shelter on steroids. It leads to warehousing, drains resources from permanent housing, etc. We‘re working on legislation to expand shelter access statewide & set standards for shelter, all with an eye toward permanent housing as the ultimate goal.

Useful thread. Also worth noting, as record low temperatures approach Chicago and elsewhere in the Midwest, that lack of shelter becomes a serious, and even life-threatening, issue for homeless.
