It’s a slightly different problem. Vancouver might legitimately be external flows of capital into local real estate; Bay Area is a straight up shortage relative to jobs. I’ve talked to Van’s chief planner about this.

That makes a lot of sense, and shows up in rents, which are much lower than homeownership costs in Canada. You can get a sweet downtown apt for jaw dropping low rent in Van.
