Uh... Chariot is also not a good example. It shut down this week. One relative disadvantage of the private system is that it can generate a incoherent, hard-to-navigate cornucopia of conflicting services that are ad-hoc and can randomly shut down.

Both of you make solid points. I think backlash arises from religious obsession w associating certain problems w gov as sacred solvers. I think we should always err on the side of effectiveness & outcomes (public or private). I agree that public’s scale is unmatched (so far).
