The top universities are also LPs in the top investment firms, which then go and invest in the dropouts or alums of the top universities, who then create returns that then compound for the endowments of the top universities in a cycle that reinforces this exclusivity/elite class.

The shortage is in entrepreneurs and allowing schools with a strong record of identifying and developing entrepreneurs to become LPs is an effort (via superior returns) to increase the number and capacity to identify and entrepreneurs that benefits society in general
