Well I am an ex-Mayor after all . . . Many local CA political leaders know this but are either deathly afraid to articulate it - Dems and even Reps - because they fear offending labor unions & losing their offices. Reckoning is coming though especially if economy slows down

A further point - I don’t see stripping CA cities - and this local residents - of authority over zoning decisions as a solution to state housing crisis when other factors better explain lack of sufficient new housing construction in state.
