Few of us on this thread are saying that, so no need to shoot down that strawman. But as @delong says, it is also ahistorical to minimize past/present prejudices of powerful groups (e.g., libertarians, who have an outsize influence, as you say) bc you want them on your side.

And what is your view on the relative priority that can reasonably be given to the interests of those living in the global south v historically marginalized groups in the US?

I personally and individually often tend to focus on communities within the US and my gut reaction to the term “Global South” is that it feels too broad to meaningfully and coherently advocate on behalf of all low-income communities outside of the US.
