It is harder to be “authentically you” in public than ever, with all the knives out to spear you in every word. But people still crave authenticity, so it’s huge boon to people who come off as authentically themselves online. Not easy.

And FWIW, I agree a certain attraction to Trump, aside from politics completely, was absolutely his “telling it like it is” demeanor. That didn’t mean truthful, that means it’s Trump being Trump, lies and all. People felt the authenticity.
