Any idea why we (the left) do this? Seems like in order to progress we need to compromise and consensus build, but today these actions are most likely to get you attacked.

Is there much value in winning a debate, being “correct”, putting someone else down, or being the most woke if the country is crumbling all around us?

I’m starting to believe that the Republican era that started with Reagan and has continued to this day is far more the fault of the left’s lack of unity than the right’s amazing tactics.

How bad will things have to get before we on the left put away our differences and compromise for the common good?

Is there any other strategy that will work? Happy to hear your thoughts.

One thought that comes to mind is perhaps change requires more organization than status quo. So if both parties are equally good at organizing - the Republicans win.

If it turns out that the left has to be 2x more organized than the right to accomplish their goals... that is a high bar.

If I don’t understand this and I’m a member of the left, does that mean something is wrong with me or does that mean that this strategy isn’t working?

people who are powerful and in powerful positions often do not see this, but if you have no power, often times the only way to derive real concessions are to do things that could plausibly disrupt or shut the system down. It looks chaotic but there's often a strategy behind it

The left is neither disrupting nor shutting the system down. Even if I agreed that this was victory - we aren’t winning at this.

The far left is achieving its goals. See Schumer on Meet The Press Sunday talking healthcare? The options he presented ranged from Medicare For All (preferred by far left) to a public option. That a public option it now the *mild* choice says a lot! Overton window has shifted.
