I dunno what the expectations were here... This is like suggesting that a film that's huge in the US should automatically be huge in the UK. Just because there are some superficial cultural similarities doesn't mean your audience is one monolithic cultural bloc.

I don’t think people appreciate the cultural difference between asian Americans and their native cultures. I’m ethnically Filipino bit o stick out like a sore thumb in the Philippines.
