More to the point...was the rave culture toxic? I've seen a bit of that culture, and while like all cultures there were some bad people in it, overall it didn't seem toxic.

The Timothy Leary thing was just an interesting factoid. Ito is much too young to have been part of the 60s counterculture. When he says "hippie" culture he is talking about 90s ravers and other 90s Bay Area hippie types.
