More to the point...was the rave culture toxic? I've seen a bit of that culture, and while like all cultures there were some bad people in it, overall it didn't seem toxic.

Every generation lives to see its heroes recast as villans. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in 50 years time.

It's also fascinating that the ways of thought developed by the counterculture of the 1960s (Post Modernism etc) are now being used to attack the counter culture itself.

Undeveloped theory but IMO Leary’s “Tune in and Drop Out” movement is a big reason we are where we are today. A large segment of a generation turned completely cynical of government. Effectively relinquishing power of office across the country to scoundrels and self interests.
