In SF, progressive politicians are typically pro-tenant but anti-housing, particularly market-rate housing.... But on Nov. 6, East Bay voters displayed a strong preference for their own type of progressive: candidates who are both pro-tenant & pro-housing.https://www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/pro-tenant-and-pro-housing/Content?oid=22700236 …

That framing seems a little facile to apply to all these races. The clearest policy difference between Buffy Wicks and Jovanka Beckles was that Wicks opposed Prop 10 / Costa-Hawkins repeal.

I think the proposed version of CH repeal, as financed by the Measure S donor who arbitrages Medicaid reimbursements, is not exactly the right litmus test. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Measure_S https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/26/magazine/the-ceo-of-hiv.html …

I'm hopeful there's a 2020 version that's better designed though that most YIMBYs can get behind.

I don't think most of the people working on Prop 10, who witnessed incredible gut-wrenching accelerating displacement, have any remaining interest in the favor of a group of folks who felt comfortable enough to wait for Costa-Hawkins repeal for a more convenient season.

it wasn't about the season. It's the contents of the policy itself. Lots of folks, including Jane, said they were interested in a rolling date rather than a straight repeal.

and yet she still voted to endorse it. you didn’t, even when almost every municipality exempted new construction before C-H became law and even Berkeley put in a preemptive rolling date. but anyway, I’ve already told you this

EB4E endorsed it. YIMBY Action didn't.

I don't fully understand the YIMBY org differences. Is this the equivalent of East Bay / West Bay ?

that is... a very complex discussion.

The West Bay is the vast periphery that has to traverse a bridge or tunnel to get to The Town.
