The payroll tax is supposed to be fully phased out soon for gross receipts.

The point was simply that Benioff doesn’t want to have a serious policy discussion and it’s disappointing journalists are letting him play them. Let him say that he’d still support a bill Stripe would & then justify why we should still pass this version.

Yes it’s too bad that the only time anybody is willing to have a serious policy discussion about a serious issue that has been entrenched in the city for 36 years is 1 week before a ballot initiative with real momentum to raise money for said issue is about to pass.

I don’t think that’s correct. It would have been phased out this year if gross receipts taxes hit a mandated level. They didn’t, so the payroll tax remains.
