When I attended - on hefty scholarships 20 years ago - there was already a student council debate about making undergraduate completely free (
@jprollert can attest). I can’t think of a better move to make than that one, today. -
It would certainly broaden the scope of the student body. It would set Harvard up for the next century. Would it harm legacy _donations_? Maybe. Would it create the next century of grateful donors? I think so.

There’s a reasonable argument to be made that keeping an organization capped at a certain size has value. In which case, take the remaining difference and fund 14 new schools of relatively similar sizes.
