I've been trying to find out if there was some great construction controversy after the Golden Gate bridge was made. I mean, 11 men died and then they realized that it was a suicide magnet. But no big cracks, I don't think. Are we getting worse at big projects?

Replying to @kimmaicutler @bobmcmillan and
The Golden Gate Bridge was also built during the Great Depression when we had jobs crisis and therefore public projects could attract talented workers. Houses built in the 1930s are supposedly better crafted than ones built in other decades.

Since 2008, we haven’t been training or encouraging people to enter the trades and so we have a major construction labor shortage across the country. @issiromem
