Imaginative large scale civic projects like this are what will build a future worth living. I hope this is seen as a lesson in and warning on how poor execution can kill a noble dream rather than a reason not to dream.

Why do cities like Chicago, NY, Shanghai, Tokyo routinely build tall buildings, big projects and execute them? SF has very little experience with skyscrapers or large scale projects. Even Salesforce Tower, owner by the guy from US News, is half size of Willis Tower in Chicago.

have we built a single large-scale civic project in SF Bay Area that hasn’t had a large problem like this pretty much immediately? are we so bad at this because we’re totally out of practice?
