Agreed! It is interesting that the housing crisis has given Oakland a chance to become a rising force in the bay area. If we continue to lead in this regard over the next 10-20 years I can see Oakland overtaking SF in the tech world.

Companies started by millennials/gen z will be increasingly tolerant/supportive of remote work but Apple is a unusually secretive boomer company that is probably highly unlikely to shift to that model.

I wonder if it could change politics around housing development, if companies like Apple started demanding of local government that housing be available (including for the people that, say, sweep their floors and empty their trash cans at night)
