I have a lot of thoughts ab bot disclosure, did some work on the CA attempt (didn't go well). I've advocated for it as a voluntary thing for Twitter to do for years; as a regulatory measure it's incredibly complex b/c tech moves fast. Not a fit for legislation

Jack and Sheryl are both right here: behavior is best way to identify disinfo campaigns. Voice (account), content, dissemination pattern are all examined to understand if virality is authentic. It's an information integrity problem, not a truth-in-narrative issue.

Ooh, a question by
@RonWyden on whether fake accounts were amplifying hoaxes - I can answer this. Yes, the IRA most definitely amplified conspiracy theories, and early in their US operations they kicked off a chemical plant explosion hoax.#techhearings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbian_Chemicals_Plant_explosion_hoax …1 reply 6 retweets 18 likesShow this thread -
"What if a US citizen willfully spreads misinformation?" This is the really hard question, and foreign state actors know that. Which is why they've begun establishing relationships with real American citizens.

The circus happened out in the hall, apparently, where AJ barged in on
@marcorubio's presser and nearly started a fight. Trying to detract from the real substance of the conversation with bullshit theatrics. I won't share any links to it.

Not gonna tweet the “but censorship!” mess that the

I look forward to how the GOP reconciles its increasingly libertarian interpretation of free speech rights (as applied to corporations' abilities to exercise free speech through what does and doesn't pass through their networks) and "shadow banning." https://review.law.stanford.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2017/04/69-Stan-L-Rev-1389.pdf …
