sure. and in SF, taxis are so heavily regulated and subsidized by SF that they effectively become an arm of public transit, which the SFMTA acknowledges in its planning documents.

And, significantly, the City exerts power over them. Can pull their license for, you know, driving with headphones on and blowing through crowded crosswalks.
