Mom on the phone telling me how much she liked Crazy Rich Asians. Ending phone call with slight knock on what I do for a living. I will never have a regular job. I should stop caring about that kind of feedback.

I’ve had a thought for a while that some people (her included) think that running a charity is beneath me. Frankly, some people have even said (some funders) it. It’s not. I don’t know what could be a better use of my talent and energies than fighting for people.

I could drop everything tomorrow morning and have a six-figure job doing something way less interesting by the next Monday morning. My theory is that that will always be there, though. People are not always lining up to do right by other people, though, so.
