This is like the @nytimes discovering boba tea. I’d say London quite possibly has a more creative, international, and experimental dining scene than New York City does these days.https://twitter.com/jamesofwalsh/status/1031223861914816512 …

Ten years ago London restaurants mainly served porridge and boiled mutton, but now you can get food from all across the world, claims this NYT review https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/15/travel/dining-in-london.html …

It's funny how non-cosmopolitan the NY Times is.

For sure. I have near-weekly stays in New York over the weekends, but even though I'm in London once a year for a couple weeks, I see more variety there.

And frankly, the characterization of the "old" London restaurant scene is probably over 20 years old. Ridiculous.

More like 30 years. I lived in London in ‘98 and the food (quality + choice) was already excellent.

The NYT is terribly provincial. Good food has been in London for a long time. Indian curries, French cuisine, American steaks. Leave it to the NYT to be condescending as well as out of touch.

Any hard data to back that up? Genuinely curious.
