Our free speech norms and laws have taken hundreds of years to evolve in this country. The premise that we could figure this out in 12 with an entirely new technology/paradigm for communications is absurd.

Fair. But I think most people, twitter included, doesn't like the value of 100% free expression in practice and know that lines need to be drawn. Which effectively means this is not a value that they plan to live by. So the question remains, what are their values?

This. Twitter sells ads in order to fund technological advances. Not unlike the gun argument: tech provides a platform but users choose their words. Unlike gun manufacturers, at least tech co.'s are exploring their social responsibility w/in this ecosystem. No one has it right.
