When we look at population growth, the sheer number can be sustained by just the births in CA alone. We have 500K births/yr and 200K deaths/yr. Where do we put these people or do we just throw up hands and say well, all of CA is just gonna be this expensive exclusive enclave.

We cannot continue to spread laterally with suburban enclaves in fire zones, but must instead create more homes in urban areas.

Or you know, abandon the Sierras and Lake County, and resettle in newly-built-up urban areas that don't burn to the ground. You're about to face $250/barrel oil, cars don't work for your state.

Retirees and low-income folks can't afford those urban areas because the leaders of those areas have refused to let enough housing be built.
