Though the cafeteria debate has usurped public debate (at least on Twitter) for the past 24hrs, we can in fact do all of this, as evidenced by our successful efforts to form a new Community Benefits District & in-process efforts to create new funding streams for transpo.

It is possible to do all of that & more. The Board & Breed (as well as whoever is planning to run against her) are all going to want to get a lot done by the end of the year.

Peskin & the Restaurant Association are making a whole host of assumptions about the liquidity of the average tech worker with real estate prices what they are. It probably favors Trader Joe’s ready-to-eat as much as local restaurants...

Or both. The "City and the City" angle to the tech eatery issue is compelling for me - because I see so many of our other concerns, including toilets, transit, homelessness - imbricated in it.
